Residence and work support for IT specialists

Your role, qualifications and contract are the starting point. We help review the residence and employment route, including the EU Blue Card where it fits your case.

Discuss your circumstances

About this service

Poland's EU Blue Card is a temporary residence permit for work requiring high professional qualifications.

Eligibility depends on the work, the required qualifications, the contract and salary conditions, health insurance and the applicant's residence situation.

Qualifying professional experience can be used as evidence of higher professional qualifications under the applicable rules.

Who it may suit

  • IT specialists reviewing a residence route for employment in Poland.
  • People preparing evidence of education or professional experience.
  • EU Blue Card holders reviewing a change in employment.

How we help

  • Consultation on your residence situation and planned employment.
  • Help preparing your application documents, including evidence of qualifications.
  • Support when you submit the residence application, within the agreed scope.

Your next steps

  1. Review your role

Bring your residence documents, contract and qualification evidence. We discuss the route and agree what support you need.

  2. Prepare the file

We help organise your application documents and identify missing information. We review the employment details alongside your qualification evidence.

  3. Support your application

We support you when you submit the application. We explain the documents and questions to review if your employment changes.

Good to know

  • An IT job title alone does not establish EU Blue Card eligibility; the requirements for the permit must also be met.
  • Under the current EU Blue Card rules, a change of employer can take place without changing the permit if the qualifying work and salary requirements continue to be met, but the voivode must be notified.
  • A Blue Card issued by another EU country has a separate long-term mobility route to Poland, with its own conditions.

Questions about this service

01Can I legally work in Poland while waiting for my residence card?

Possibly, but applying for a residence permit does not itself give you permission to work. You need lawful stay and a valid right to work, such as a work authorisation, a qualifying continuation rule or an exemption. Active PESEL UKR status has separate work rules that require employer notification. We can check your documents and work rights at a consultation.

02Can I change my employer while my TRC application is still pending?

You may be able to change employers while your application is pending, but the pending application alone does not authorise work for a new employer. For an employment-based application, update the office with your new employer details and documents, outside MOS by paper correspondence or through the voivode’s electronic-delivery address. Before starting the new job, check whether your right to work covers it or whether a new authorisation or notification is needed. We can review the change at a consultation.

03What happens to my residence permit if I lose my job or change employers?

Losing a job or changing employers can affect an employment-based residence permit and may lead to its withdrawal if the conditions are no longer met. If your permit names an employer, notify the voivode of job loss and check whether a permit change or a new application is needed, as well as your right to start the new job. Permits with unrestricted work access, including CUKR, follow different rules. We can review your decision and the applicable deadlines at a consultation.
