Review your route to permanent residence
Tell us about your family links, residence history and plans to settle in Poland. We help you organise the documents for the route you are considering.
Discuss your circumstancesAbout this service
A permanent residence permit allows indefinite residence in Poland and is available only in cases specified by law.
Possible grounds include Polish origin, a valid Karta Polaka, certain family relationships and certain protection statuses, subject to the conditions of each route.
The residence permit and the physical residence card are separate: the permit is indefinite, while the card has a validity period and must be replaced.

- Electronic submission does not remove personal attendance requirements, although exceptions can apply.
- Until 4 March 2027, decision time limits are suspended for covered residence cases handled by a voivode. Cases continue to be processed.
Questions about this service
01What should I do if my residence permit application has been pending for a very long time?
Start by checking the case status, any requests from the office and whether all required documents and formalities are complete. As of 12 October 2026, decision time limits for covered residence cases at voivodeship offices are suspended until 4 March 2027, and ordinary remedies for delay are restricted. The available next step depends on your case and the procedure involved. We can review the file and possible steps at a consultation.
02When can I apply for Polish citizenship, and what are the main requirements?
The earliest application date depends on your route and residence history. One common route to recognition requires at least three continuous years in Poland on permanent residence, EU long-term resident status or a right of permanent residence, plus stable regular income, a legal right to occupy your home and accepted evidence of Polish at B1 or above. Other recognition routes have different conditions, and a presidential grant is a separate procedure. We can check which route and application date fit your circumstances at a consultation.
